Which of these sounds like you?

Most people come because of one thing. Open yours.

My gums bleed when I brush or floss

Bleeding gums are inflamed gums. Sometimes it is plaque that a deeper cleaning can reach, and sometimes the bone around the teeth is involved. We measure to tell which.

  • Measuring the space around each tooth

  • A deep cleaning when plaque is the cause

  • A plan for keeping gums steady

My gums are pulling back

More of the tooth shows, and the root may be sensitive. Some recession stays the same for years and some keeps going. We measure it and photograph it.

  • How far it has pulled back, tooth by tooth

  • Changing how you clean

  • A gum graft, when it suits you

A tooth feels loose or has shifted

An adult tooth should not move. We check how much it moves, look at the bone on an X-ray and tell you whether the tooth can be kept.

  • A check of each tooth

  • An X-ray of the bone

  • What can be kept, and what that involves

I am missing a tooth

Dr. Villanueva places dental implants. Your own dentist, or one he works with, makes the crown. First we find out whether your jaw can hold one.

  • Alternatives, including waiting

Before you call

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

Many people come on a referral from their dentist or hygienist. You can also call us yourself. Some dental plans ask for a referral, so check with yours.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we treat it, and you can ask us to stop at any time. Some soreness afterward is common, and Dr. Villanueva tells you what to expect.

Do you see children?

Our practice is for adults. If your child has a gum concern, their dentist can refer you to a dentist who treats children.

What if I do not have insurance?

You pay at the visit and know the fee for each stage in writing before it starts. We give a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask.

When is it an emergency?

If you cannot breathe or swallow, or your face is swelling fast, call 911 or go to an emergency room. For anything else dental, call our office.
